After a long blog post absence I decided to ease back by sharing some of my portraits from the 2015 Minnesota Wild media day. If you are unfamiliar with how media days work it basically goes like this. Players are made available for media outlets to conduct interviews, radio spots, promotions, photos, etc.. Since they have so many obligations your time to photograph them is very limited. Because of this I choose a very simple lighting setup, which would allow me to shoot wide or tight without having to make any major adjustments. All photos were made on the ice at the Xcel Energy Center. I used (2) lights. The main light was a large soft box and the back light was direct with a 20-degree grid spot.
My next post will be a more in-depth entry about shooting media day portraits with details about my multiple setups at the Minnesota Timberwolves Media Day.
I used (2) Dynalite 4040 heads powered by (2) separate 2000 w/s Dynalite packs.
Exposure: 1/200 second; F/ 6.3; ISO 100
