Interactive Gigapan panoramic photo from Target Field during the Minnesota Twins home opener - April 12, 2010.
For inaugural game at the new Target Field between the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox I wanted to try something a little different to document the event. I had been very curious about the Gigapan after seeing the photo of President Obama’s inauguration and thought it would work well for the home opener. If you are not familiar with the device it's basically is a robot that you place a camera into and program it to take several photos that are stitched together with their provided software to form an interactive panoramic photo.
I used a Canon G11 and a Gigapan Epic 100. During testing the day before the game the device broke so I was forced to make all the horizontal movements manually during the multiple exposures. I determined during some pregame testing that 7-10 degrees provided an ample amount of overlap for the stitching software.
